Pubs open on Christmas Day

Post by Fred Gumby » Thu Dec 12, 2013 12:41 am

I've had an email from someone who is travelling from Norway to spend Christmas in Chester. He has checked out Whatpub and has found 50+ pubs but wants to know the top 10 pubs. I can probably point him in the right direction with that but he is looking for somewhere to go for a meal on Christmas Day. I think the Architect is doing Christmas Day lunch but I suspect it will be fully booked. Is anyone aware of anywhere else close to the city centre doing food on 25th December?

Nev's just confirmed that Artichoke is bookings only.

Someone else has informed me that the Bear and Billet is open too.

We are fully open but fully booked for food as you presumed. Bar is open 10:30-3:30 though.

Think that The Cellar is open over lunchtime - also heard that there is new landlady at a Boughton pub, who is opening lunch AND evening time !

(The latter is unverified - think pub might be The Cross Keys, said to be sporting a new range of real ales too! Must investigate further!!)

For those of you desperate to escape the oppressiveness of Christmas, the Forest House Spoons is open 4-10pm today.
