Where to get a proper pub sandwich or baguette in Chester??

Such a selection of indifferent bread on offer in Chester city - 'baguette' seems to be a licence to provide soggy, un-crusty crap rolls (yes, you at Harkers, Bear& Billet and other crims...). FFS, if you have to, just go buy from Tesco or Waitrose each day - no, guess it's too much of an effort.......

As to sandwiches, the common belief seems to be "serve thick rubbish bread and call it 'doorstep', that'll fool the punters" - "oh, wonder why they ate the contents, left most of the bread and never came back?"

Come on publicans, bread is a cheap ingredient, JFDI, get it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(to strike a positive note, the bread at Artichoke passes muster - they have obviously decided to give a sh** but stand alone in this respect - well done they, shame on the rest)

I generally go to alehouses for ale.
Never mind the baguette, it's the bitter that counts.
But, I do take your point.
