How about:-

a) 18.07 Chester to Delamere train: route Kelsall, Willington, Tarvin, Ashton, Mouldsworth: return 22.31 Mouldsworth to Chester

b) 18.30 Chester/Bache to Hooton train: route Raby, Willaston, Childer Thornton, Hooton (alternative route could be to visit Harp, Little Neston)

c) meet Ruabon (Bridge End): route Cefn Mawr, Froncysllte (via aqueduct), Sun Trevor (canal path), Acrefair (Oddfellows / Hampton)

Best to walk those bikes over the aqueduct. On the saddle that rail fencing wont seem very high !

Next Friday (12th) anyone?

I may well be up for (c).

Anybody going to organise a few more bike crawls this year? Those light nights will soon be upon us or, failing an evening pedal, how about a full on Saturday excursion too? Le Tour de Ceiriog peut-etre?

Absolutely, I don't mind organising a couple. Evenings and the odd Leo-Sayer would be in order.
Perhaps leave the Ceiriog climb to later in the season though? :?

Thought for the first excursion I'd keep it close to Chester, flat and not too far. Just to get us off to an easy start before moving further afield as the year goes on.

How about
Greenway to Guilden Sutton to take in the Bird in Hand.
Country lanes from there to the Plough.
Then into Christleton and the Bells.
Back along canal to the Bridge Inn then back to town.

suggested course -

anyone fancy doing this on a friday night then?

We have finally got round to agreeing some dates for the cycle trips suggested above:

Friday 11th June, 7:00 pm - Chester / Guilden Sutton / Christleton (meet at Bawn Lodge, Hoole then Bird In Hand, Plough, Ring O'Bells, Bridge Inn.) The total distance is approx 13km.

Sunday 20th June, 2:00 pm TBC - Ruabon to Llangollen (start at the Bridge End 2:00 pm) May be an issue with this for people travelling from Chester / Wrexham as officialy Arriva only allow a max of 2 cycles per train.

Sunday 4th July, 2:00 pm - Chester / Aldford / Farndon / Holt / Lavister (Meet at the Rake & Pikel, Huntington)

Friday 16th July, 18:30 train from Chester to Hooton then Raby / Willaston / Childer Thornton / Hooton

I understand Mr W has some more details about the routes.

I suggest that the Wrexham lot and the Chester lot take separate trains to try and combat this one. We can get the Wrexham - Marylebone. I had no problem getting the bike on there yesterday.

Is anyone turning up for the jaunt on 20th June? Unfortunately I won't be there having had my bike nicked from outside the Bridge Inn in Chester.

As I have been ticked off for previous posts that didn't concern beer, then perhaps all Cyclists should find a suitable Cycling message board instead of wasting time on here.

It's an organised cycle social trip that involves visiting pubs we wouldn't normally get to, therefore I see no problem.
