Yes Dave reckons end of the month opening. Looking forward to it.

'Soft' opening tonight and tomorrow evening for invited guests. Officially open on Friday. Not radically different inside from the old Fat Cat era but they have done a really good job of smartening the place up. There are plans to install a microbrewery at some point in the future. Five Big Hand beers plus two guests (Ilkley Blonde + Allendale Wolf) on tonight. A few first night gremlins so casks beers slightly warm due to cellar temperature being not quite right.

They are not planning to have an extensive menu with food being restricted to simple bar snacks such as pork pies.

Since the demise of the Fat Cat this site has been ill-fated but there are people involved who have a track record of running successful pubs so let's hope they can make a go of it this time. Overall another excellent addition to the Chester pub scene.

Popped in this afternoon for a quick pint of Big Hand Seren, was on good form.
Really like what they’ve done with the place, very nice makeover and atmosphere. I will be back. Definitely worth a visit!

I was impressed too. Should become a regular pre / post-match haunt once the football season resumes down at the Deva Stadium. Could do with a Tuesday night general knowledge quiz though eh Citrazen!

Made two visits; first was with girlfriend and her sister + boyfriend on Bank Holiday Monday. very impressed with the beer selection, good choice of light and dark :thumb: . 2nd visit was to deliver Out Inn Cheshire mags and upon asking to see the manager who pops up but our friend JT, ex-Brewery Tap! No wonder the beer was in such good condition. Certain to be a regular calling point for me. Beers tried on this visit were: Merlin Dark Magic and Castle Black, both very good (score 4.0), Stonehouse Off The Rails another good beer with a score of 4.0. Not had this last one for a long time, always used to be on at the Marlbororough but they've cut down the choice these days.

Impressed. A very useful addition to the scene. Good to see JT back in action in his natural environment!
