The Rake(Rake Hall)

Post by rimmer » Sun Jun 10, 2018 1:51 pm

As opposed to the demise of cask at the GK HH in the Coliseum, some interesting real ales were spotted alongside the usual GK IPA being from Red Willow and Salopian, looking at Trip Advisor they do seem to have some sort of rotating guest ale policy. Meanwhile over the road at the Harvester two Sharp's beers remain and two Marstons beers on at the Old Hall Farm though usually there are three.

Yesterday they had Big Bog Quagmire and Purple Moose Elderflower on as guests in addition to the permanent GK IPA

On today Big Bog Quagmire still and Spitting feathers Brainstorm, tried both and just about ok. Spoke to the guy looking after the beers who seems keen for some recognition from Camra-think he has some quality control work to do yet though. He also has a mini battle on with Green King at present who want him to put two of their beers on i.e. Speckled Hen in place of a rotating guest. He says his guest ale list is from SIBA.

Moorhouse's Kudos (2) and Greene King IPA (1.5) were on last Monday, a quiet night, neither in great nick. But the food was excellent value.

Red Willow Effortless was on this Sunday just gone. Quite good - 3.5.
