Duke of Wellington, Ince

Post by Old Yard Dog » Wed May 17, 2017 4:41 pm

This pub has given up on real ale citing "not enough call for it any more". To be honest, it was always a half-hearted outlet with supplies being very unpredictable.

I was also not enamoured by being greeted by a possee of little dogs yapping about my feet when I went in.

The Rigger in nearby Elton also remains keg (and the local post office closed down last December). Thank heavens for the Wheelwrights.

Anyone know what's happening at the Duke? Off their facebook page in August "Punch Taverns have bought our tenancy and are selling the pub freehold, and have asked us to stay on until said pub is sold."

There was no real ale on when I called at this newly reopened and refurbished pub last night which is trying very hard to attract new custom. The bar maid said they were not turning over enough and were having to throw beer away. It hasn't gone completely but is only likely to be put on when they expect to be busy.
