Wrexham FC Centenery Bar

Post by alanH » Tue Oct 04, 2016 11:11 pm

Before the Wrexham v Lincoln City match, I thought I would try a pint of cask at the Centenery Bar. There was the handpump with a clip on it.
"Pint of cask please".
"What!?"
"The handpumped stuff" (pointing).
"Sorry, that is not on" (Pulling the pump clip off).
I had a half of something fizzy and disgusting and went back to Wetherspoons.

If a place can't arrange to get the cask on before several thousand fans are arriving, it shows a total lack of commitment (or understanding) of selling cask beer.
Perhaps the custom are staying faithful to the club's name and are all drinking Wrexham Lager.
A similar thing has happened at the Turf Tavern just before a Crusaders Rugby League match. In my experience, Rugby League fans are more likely to demand cask, but the pub are just not up to the job!
All this shows. is that the fight for Real Ale is far from won.
