Really sorry to see them go as they managed to turn a struggling pub into an excellent community local. There will be a leaving party on 29th May and new tenants will be taking over on 1st June.

Disappointing feedback from WhatPub ...

"Since the change of landlord in June, the availability of real ales has dwindled. Tonight (a Friday night, when we have grown to expect a choice of 4 guest ales) the choice to was reduced to Brakespear or Mild. Pitiful!"

It appears that the new tenants have got rid of Sky Sports which some might think a good thing but they seem to be losing custom to the Bromfield as a result.

Its Brakspears not Brakespears! Mild not a bad thing!
Sky sports gone, so what ! they may attract a more discerning clientele!

We took over the Oak on 1st June, we did not get rid of Sky sports as has been suggested, sky sports had been cancelled before we took over so we had to reinstall it. We installed both Sky sports and BT Sports and both racing channels available across our 5 screens. We usually have 4 or 5 real ales available. There was one night last month were we we had sold out all the cask ales apart from Brakspear Bitter and Jennings Dark Mild but this was simply a case of increased trade on the real ales during the week and nothing to do with us decreasing the range. We are also adding an extra pump to increase the potential range of real ales to 6 during the coming weeks.

Excellent news and thanks for posting to clarify the situation. It's always good to hear from landlords. :thumb: :drinking:

There will be a short piece on the Royal Oak in the next Out Inn Cheshire magazine due next month which reiterates the information provided by the pub in the post above.
