No longer a John Barras pub but now under the Flaming Grill chain. Had a good couple of visits to the Flaming Grill in Houghton Green which is regularly in the guide so hoping for good things here. Two real ales available.

Tribute and OSH were on during my visit recently-very smart here now compared to a couple of years ago. A huge pub really with dining on one side,Sky Sports and pool table the other. Lovely front seating area overlooking the park.
cheers and happy drinking grace

Plan to develop the site but build a new pub nearby :hmm:

Old Speckled Hen, branded as Old Spooky Hen for Halloween, was the only real ale on sale today - but was in good nick.

Abbot was the only real ale on sale on Sunday, IPA being labelled as "coming soon". Incessant and loud recorded pop music spoiled my visit and this was quite early on a Sunday night.

Not sure whether this was mentioned at the branch meeting last week but the Grace Arms has been saved.

Greene King have confirmed that the site is no longer for sale following a strong local campaign led by Gemma Fildes, Justin Madders MP and others.

A rare pub preservation success.

Yesterday the local planning authority (CWAC) announced that the planning application for demolition and building of housing has been withdrawn. This is not the same outcome as a planning refusal and means the applicant could resubmit in the future whereas a full refusal would mean he could not. So watch this space and never assume a pubco has given up on his dastardly scheme to asset strip his pub estate.

IPA was the only real ale on sale on Wednesday, the Abbot "not being on at the moment".
