Montgomery Pub & Kitchen, Eastham

Post by Old Yard Dog » Tue Jul 30, 2013 8:12 am

The Stanley Arms in Eastham has finally reopened as the Montgomery Pub & Kitchen, owned by the same people as the Lord Binning in Kelsall.

A good deal of money has clearly been spent on refurbishing this pub in a very modern style with lots of pine and square edges. It is obvious the moment you walk in that the emphasis is on food. I arrived late on a Monday night when the diners had gone and the pub was almost deserted. Every single ordinary table with proper chairs was laid out with knives and forks, serviettes and a wine glass. People calling in for a casual drink were relegated to a couple of high tables with high bar stools.

The food menu looked ambitious and quite expensive for the area.

Six huge keg fonts dominate the bar but around the corner were three handpumps serving Jennings, Brains and Hook Norton. My pint was a degree or two too warm, but this was perhaps understandable on a hot summer night with not much turnover.

Still its early days yet.
