The Yacht Inn, Chester High Road

Post by big_hairy_rob » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:56 pm

Just passed through their tonight. Like any other Hungry Horse pub, 2 ales on tap. Green King IPA and Abbot Ale. The barman joked that if they got annother pump they would have old speckled hen.
Decent access (ramps everywhere on ground floor and disabled toilets). Covered smoking area.
Not great beer or food though. Sorry.

Used to go here in the 70s when it was Greenalls mild&bitter on electric dispense at a time when the sandwiches were legendary there. Was a regular later on account of the excellent Greenalls Original + guest there, nowadays wouldn't go near the place.
cheers and happy memorys of the Yacht.

Now open and very smart-two Peerless beers on and this is the theme for the start but may change in the future. Drinkers are welcome and plenty of bar stools about.

They had Peerless Pale Ale and Lottie Dod on Saturday and both were in decent nick (3's). The tapas style lunchtime menu was good quality, excellent value and filling.

Peerless Pale and Skyline on tap yesterday, both in good nick. I also heard that two Peerless beers were on a couple of weeks ago, so it looks like Peerless beers are now permanent but the exact brews on the two handpumps change from time to time.
