Called in to The Mount last Friday for my first visit. Very nice traditional style pub with Brains Bitter and Weetwood Bitter. Tried the Brains at £2-50 a pint so good value and a well kept beer. They also sell filled baps for £1-95 so good to line the stomach before sampling the freebies at the Cellar bar later on! Must go again to see what other beers on offer.
Went on to the Cellar Bar and joined Boughton Beerman for a few of their excellent beers. Must agree with his comment under separate post that the Weetwood Eastgate was on fine form. :thumb:

Just back from a rare shearing at my hairdressers. It could be a load of baloney but local gossip has it that the Mount's been sold to Hydes.

Any idea when they'll be taking over or if there'll be a change of landlord ?

Funny how Hydes have bought up two pubs yet the Gredington Arms remains closed in Llyn y Pwll. Hope it's not being flogged off to fund the purchases. What news James ?

The Gred was sold off about 18 months ago for £180k.

Buyer was a builder from Holt/Farndon who put it straight back on the market for £300k.

No sign of anything being done with it, nor planning permission being put in.

Official tweet from Hydes today -

We are pleased to announce our latest acquisition - The Mount in Chester. A hidden gem, with fantastic views over the city & the River Dee
