The Stamford Bridge - Tarvin Road, Chester

Post by Stamford Bridge » Sun Apr 15, 2012 9:05 pm

Evening all... I hope you don't mind that I'm coming on here to shout about our cask ale selection... we have recently had two new hand pumps fitted taking our total real ales selection up to 7 and were hoping that this could be a regular way to keep the real ales drinkers aware of what we have to offer by updating every couple of days. We are making a real push to become a more cask ale friendly pub and we have recently revamped our training towards real ale so that everyone in our team can aid you in the quest for your perfect pint! :drink: We use good old fashioned ale tankards (or straight glasses for those who prefer!) and try to use local breweries and ale as regularly as possible.

Before we start this proper we would like to know if you think that this is a good use of your forum and would mind as we haven't seen any other pubs in the area doing this sort of thing

Thanks very much!

Good news that beer choice is increasing but any chance of more space for drinkers to enjoy their pint? :drink: The Stamford Bridge is very much a food led pub with most of the accommodation given over to dining so some more room to drink would be most welcome.

I've no problem as long as the pubs are open about the comments. What annoys me on some other forums is where mysterious 'new' users appear and post gushing reviews of establishments. Like IP addresses can't be matched!

Very good ....
Must say I've never had a bad one yet at the Stamford, however, an increase in choice will be most welcome. I personally think the drinking'space' is ok. Such establishments of course have to be food lead - I'm sure 'wet' lead would not be a viable proposition.

Hi there, thank you all for you comments. Our other four pubs will soon be using this forum to advertise their ales too, so you can expect to see a lot from Woodward and Falconer in the future.

The Stamford Bridge currently has the following ales on:- Piffle, Woodward and Falconer (Wirral)
Best, Weetwood (Cheshire)
Splash, Frodsham (Cheshire)
Mulberry Dark, Conwy (North Wales)
Celebration, Conwy (North Wales)
Asylum, Oakham (Peterborough)
Scarecrw, Brimstage (Wirral)
We have Theakstons Best, John Smiths Cask and Wetwood Eastgate racked and ready to go as and when the others (bar Piffle and Weetwood Best which are our constants) run out.

If anybody has any requests for local beers or indeed breweries, please let us know and if we can, we'll give them a go.

We hope to see you all soon

Hi BBCJohn,

Thanks for your feedback. It is true that we are a food led pub and we do rely heavily upon our dry trade. However we are making a big drive to impove both the quality and choice of our wet products and we hope this will bring about a boost in our drink-only custom.

We have over 30 seats in our bar area but we shall look into and discuss whether there is any viable way to extend this without effecting our restaurant trade. A wet lead, as Boughton Beerman wrote is not really an option but we hope to integrate the two harmoniously.

Thanks again for all of your comments, this discourse is much appreciated.
