Landlord Trevor from the Olde Cottage can now select beers from SIBA so let him know of your favourite local ales and he'll try to put them on. He has plans for a 4th handpump to be installed soon so you'll have even more choice! :drink: In the cellar at the moment is Offbeat Kooky Gold.

My favs are:
Tatton - Best; Spitting Feathers - Dark Velvet Mild (available in May); Higsons Stout.

Great news. I emailed a bunch of breweries I recommend to him via Tarquel the other week.

Good luck to them, must pop in for a beer soon.

just had meeting with new BDM about local ales, her reply was if we let you stock them your rent goes up, thats the way of your narrow minded pub co, not thinking about the future just what company car do i get next, on a better note cask wednesday is here now, at £2.10 a pint all night every wednesday, come along and cheer the bagatelle team on to another victory in the only league in the world, :drinking:

No surprise here then. These are the same b******s that are forcing so many pubs to the wall.
Would it interest you to know that a local brewer who sells 3.8% beer to free houses at £65 plus VAT per 9-gallon firkin, is "obliged" to sell it to SIBA for £60 ish, and then see that SIBA are selling it to pubcos for £95 - £100. For the "honour" of being able to supply pubcos with decent microbrewery beer, most of the £30 difference goes to the pubco, who of course don't need to deliver it, collect empties, provide POS material....
Must sit down now before rage consumes me.

I had a Butcombe at the weekend. Superb it was. There's quite a good selection of real ale literature in the Cottage now. Always a nice touch.

I'm real Bah Humbug when it comes to Christmas themed ales. I tend to avoid them where ever possible.
