Ellesmere Port mystery pub

Post by Handbridge Hophead » Tue Apr 15, 2014 4:55 pm

Apropos of Mr W's Brook Street thread, Rimmer and I have been in private correspondence trying to work out where this pub in Ellesmere Port was. We're guessing it's west of the Boat Museum roughly were the M53 passes over it near Meadow Lane. It goes without saying I'd like to time travel and tick this one. Probably get a good kicking but it'd be worth it.

I've got the location. Picture will have been taken from on Powell's Bridge. Building is to the NW pretty much where Oil Sites Road now leaves the M53 roundabout.
Actually it is where the trees are between roundabout and canal here http://binged.it/1n9vMry
The building to the left is the Manchester Ship Canal offices with bell tower on Dock Rd.
Still haven't got a name yet though!!

Got the fekker!!!

It was the Canal Tavern, in exactly the spot I found.
