Re: Hanmer Arms,Hanmer.

Oh dear. I cycled there a few weeks ago myself, no pub sign and door shut etc but it was open. Good beers too. It was very quiet though, I fear for this place yet it could be superb again I'm sure.

Re: Temple Bar

Re: the Sandstone, Brown Knowl

Nice one. What were the estate's objections? Their main one was that the ACV was seen to be from an "outside pressure group" rather than from the locals. If the parish council endorsed the application he did say they wouldn't spend money on any appeals. There were other objections but they didnt re...

Re: the Sandstone, Brown Knowl

Quite a lively meeting last night at an extraordinary meeting of the Broxton Parish Council. We put our case forward about the benefits of the ACV on the Sandstone and a representative from the Bolesworth Estate put forward their reasons for objecting. Pleased to report at the end of the meeting the...

Re: Egerton Arms, Bache, now Mill @ Upton

Good point, and I accept that, negativity achieves nothing! Yes, I will continue to post findings on mini tours of the city, but you guys have a responsibility too, you post nothing on visits, tours etc, why is that? Why can't we work together on this and give Chester beer drinkers up to date info?...

Black Country trip Sat June 3rd 2017

We still have plenty of places left on the minibus trip around the Black Country pubs on Saturday 3rd June. We are trying to keep the cost per person to around the £22 mark but this assumes a full bus of 16 people. Currently we only have 9 people signed up and if this does't increase we will have to...

Re: Egerton Arms, Bache, now Mill @ Upton

Well as I was on one of my regular visits to Chester, I called in to see what they had done. More than likely going to be more of a foody pub, but they still have a bar area. Had a decent pint of Joseph Holt bitter and also tried the Two Hoots Golden ale, both were of a good quality, though not sur...

Re: the Sandstone, Brown Knowl

Aye, popped by yesterday sad to see it looking so forlorn already. Stuart has been wanting to sell the lease so there is still hope for its future. We applied for it to be listed as an Asset of Community Value before it closed to help give some protection against predatory development.
