Re: Watergate

Popped in when I cycled by. Just been hastily re-opened to flog booze to the hordes. Striped down and quick re-paint that's all. No cask obviously.

Re: Telfords 'Pub of the Year'

I'll stick my oar in and say I really like Telfords. Ticks all sorts of the right boxes for me. Each to their own I guess.

Re: A stroll around Milton St, Brook St. and Russell St.

I agree in every case here Mike. Kash had a good spell with guest ales a few months back. Their Blue Ball beers just don't cut the mustard for me. And you're bang on with Harkers. Rarely go in there as there's better to be had elsewhere usually at cheaper prices. As for the Cottage, a marvellous inc...

I had an excellent Weetwood Eastgate Export in there a couple of weeks ago. Member of barstaff said there had only been two enquiries about buying the place in ten months.

End of season cricket do at Boughton Hall on Friday. Popped in the Bridge with some trepidation beforehand. Actually found the place ticking over pleasantly and the Salopian Shropshire Gold and Taylors Landlord both in very good nick.

I've just read the latest edition of OIC and it seems to consist of page after page of rants about how wonderful b****y Twitter is. Has some new kid taken over as editor? I was moved to complain to the BBC a few months ago about their incessant plugging of b****y Twitter and Facebook on every singl...

Re: Brewhouse and Kitchen

Was in twice myself over the weekend - cashing on on the freebie tickets! Thoroughly enjoyed a couple of pints of Deva Victrix plus a Funky Chicken Burger. Decor impressed me most. Brighter, nicely laid out. Sensible seating.

On early showing deserves to do well.

Probably a return to the status quo now. If I lived local I'd be vigiliant for Mr Arsonist.

Black Iris Bajan Breakfast at the Star in Beeston. Some good pubs in Beeston- not to be overlooked in the rush to get from Derby to Nottingham Locally my best was the Bad Co Whiter Shade of Pale at the Cross Keys (3.2% - perfect) while Bollington White Nancy at the Glynne Arms, Hawarden (showing a r...

Re: Ring O Bells beer festival

Good research Mike !!

I'm no fan of beer festivals any more as pubs offer enough choice for me these days without the queues / bands etc.. That said, the Shrewsbury one does pique my interest.
