Re: Talbot, Cymau

Went to the auction. The lot was sold 30 mins before the auction, no idea who bought it or what was paid for it. Interesting that in the legal pack, there is mention of the planning refusal for change of use, followed by a comment "fresh application pending" This must be a lie as there is no trace o...

Re: Grace Arms, Ellesmere Port

Yesterday the local planning authority (CWAC) announced that the planning application for demolition and building of housing has been withdrawn. This is not the same outcome as a planning refusal and means the applicant could resubmit in the future whereas a full refusal would mean he could not. So ...

Re: Talbot, Cymau

More to this than apparent at first glance. A private individual bought the pub off Hydes over a year ago and proceeded to make building changes without permission, but then realised he needed change-of-use planning permission so duly applied to Flintshire together with retrospective planning permis...

GREYHOUND FARNDON

Just noticed its shut. With the dreaded To Let sign on the wall.
At least there can be no closure/redevelopment into residential use without full planning permission.
The owner is New River Retail, that well known supporter of pubs.

WHITE HORSE CHURTON

Latest tenants are giving up. Pub has the dreaded sign outside "do you want to run this pub?"
Yet another example of an enthusiastic tenant finding that the pubco burden of high rent and inflated drinks prices cannot be overcome.
Admiral Taverns if anyone is interested.

Re: Flintshire Real Ale Trail

They did once ask to use a CAMRA logo on their advertising, and their request was refused. Just as well as both Wrexham trails were utterly shambolic. Bus drivers ran out of driving hours, some of them didn't know the route and missed out several stops. One bus demolished the car park wall at the Ty...

Re: Admiral Taverns Takeover

Interesting (not) article in the Morning Advertiser. All that guff by the company taking over, and the similar tosh by Admiral is nothing more than corporatespeak. Often but not always the existing management of the firm being acquired gets cleaned out in short order when new owners realise their tr...

Re: TYN-Y-CAPEL MINERA

The same guy who bought the pub freehold a few months ago has now bought the pub business, subject to contract as they say.
His intention is to continue trading the pub for the forseeable future
