Re: White Swan, Great Sutton

Very good value in here. Two cask ales were on,...Robinsons Wizard and their Socks n Sandals (brewed specifically for CAMRA I was told on a recent brewery tour in Stockport). The latter was I think 5.2% Both pints hugely enjoyable. Accompanied a meal from their light bites menu....Hunters chicken wi...

Re: The sad demise of the Bridge Inn Tarvin Road

I was there yesterday afternoon about 4pm. I was the only customer. Beer garden was empty even though weather was dry and warm....ok, no sun, but surely not the weather keeping people away. I've been let down at Bridge in recent months too often. "Sorry kitchen closed" a couple of months ago, yet no...

Re: White Swan, Great Sutton

Thoroughly enjoyed a Hobgoblin in White Swan last night. Temporary hand made pump clip cover did not put me off! Hartleys Cumbria Way was the other cask option.

Re: Joules Brewery visit

The trip on Sat 10th October (paid for by the missus as a birthday treat and to get me out of her hair), was first class. I always learn something new about Joules on these trips, and then struggle to remember it the next day. Great company, treated warmly by all. Thanks Dave and Jane......and not f...

Re: Guardian article

A fascinating read. Two points.... 1) Please sign the petition to show Liverpool City Council the support that The Roscoe Head has, to be listed as an ACV. https://www.change.org/p/liverpool-city-council-save-the-roscoe-head 2) Punch Taverns are due to use Chester Racecourse again imminently for the...

Fracking planning permission refused

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-33313084 Personally, I hope all Brewers, especially those that rely on spring water as a natural source for their beers, are geared up to lobby the Government against fracking. There are laws against polluting the land and water table with chemicals, y...

Re: Olde Cottage, Chester.

Real ale at £2.50 ... it's just like the Good Old Days  Really like the Fridge Magnet Ale , and the fact that the letters in "Fridge Magnet Ale" can be re-arranged on the pump clip to make phrases such as... Delegate Farm Gin Enameled Fart Gig Defeating Arm Leg Defame Agent Girl Airman Egge...

Pump clips at Wetherspoons

I know it has bugged me for at least a year that there has been a refusal (under Regional Manager instructions) for staff at Square Bottle and Forest House to turn around the pump clip when a cask ale sold out. I noticed today however, in SB, that on selling the last pint of Naylors Chicade (Chinook...

Re: CAMRA Parliamentarian of the Year

So there's a pattern emerging here with public dissatisfaction regarding awards to those in public life. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-save-the-children-charity-from-giving-tony-blair-their-annual-global-legacy-award I heard that someone was thinking of nominating Tesco for their servi...

Re: The Bridge Inn, Tarvin Road.

I was in last Thursday night for one. Only ale was Hobgoblin. No optics. Looked quite bare behind bar. Jonny was serving. Yesterday it was closed when I went past at 4:20pm.
