Re: Penycae & Ponciau

Great to visit Penycae and drink Real Ale in both pubs for the first time. Even if it is only Doom Bore (Black Horse) and Facer's Flintshire Bitter (Cross Foxes) The beer in both pubs was on good form. The Black Horse also had a Sharp's Atlantic clip turned round. The Black Horse was busy early Frid...

Black Lion, Newbridge

The Black lion at Newbridge is closed. The family had been running it since the death of the landlady in April but the premises licence holder stopped them trading 15th August (posted on their facebook page).

There has been a local campaign to save the pub.

"The handpumped stuff" (pointing). "Sorry, that is not on" (Pulling the pump clip off). I had a half of something fizzy and di...

The Aqueduct is no longer painted yellow! Neither is the Aqueduct pub!! 8) , except round the back (until tomorrow). After the initial shock I got used to the yellow colour. It now looks dull and ordinary back in the standard cream. I nearly drove past and missed it! The Purple Moose Olympia is wond...

Wild Pheasant Hotel

The Wild Pheasant Hotel in Llangollen has closed down a couple of days ago and gone into administration. The hotel has always had a bar open to the public and sold Real Ale most of the time (the single pump would be serving from Thursday until it ran out about the following Tuesday!) It also went in...
