Re: Olde Cottage, Chester.

With all these hipster craft ale types knocking about these days, I suggest you do some 'artisan nibbles' - sourdough vol au vents or summat.

Re: Ellesmere Port Sea Shanty Festival

Whip jamboree, whip jamboree. The ol' pig-tail sailor's hangin' out behind. Whip jamboree, whip jamboree. Oh Jenny get your oat cakes on. Even as a nine year old cub-scout singing this around the camp fire, I knew the sailor returning home from a long voyage fancied more than his wife's cooking. Gre...

Enjoyed last night's walkabout John - had to nip back to the Cellar for a hop fix after though !

Re: The Ponsonby Arms

Well on the occasions I've been in here, the beer and service has been excellent, so I applaud the owners on running a decent pub on what's obviously a tight budget. I just hope they can get the external refurb sorted out as soon as possible because the pub's appearance must be affecting trade. Tarq...

Re: The Ponsonby Arms

I cycled past yesterday morning and (due to my incredible speed) could only afford it a quick glance, but it looked derelict.

M&B subsidiary or brand or whatever. Certainly a cut above Punch/Enterprise/Admiral - the triumvirate of shame.

Liverpool Organic 24 carat at the 3 Stags, Spital. Marvellous.

Good to see more and more beers from local microbreweries in PubCo pubs.

Even though they're all still bastards.

West Kirby Tap - Thornbridge takeover

Visited last Thursday - not sure how long it's on for. And it was a part-takeover as it turned out as a couple of Spitting Feathers beers were still available on cask. And some people were actually drinking them in preference to the Thornbridge options, unbelievably. Anyhow, all the Thornbridge ales...

Re: Olde Cottage, Chester.

Given the combination of variety and quality, at £2.70/pint the Cottage has the best value ale in Chester by a mile.

(Compare this to £3.86/pint at the Pied Bull beer festival for quaffing grade ale which was warm.)

Re: Wheatsheaf in Mollington now The Crown

They have asked if anyone from the branch would be willing to go along to the opening and take some photos with a view to giving them a plug on Twitter etc.
Form an orderly queue.
