The Peacock

The Peacock Hotel, Christleton Road, Boughton re-opens today.

Originally a Greenall Whitley 'estate' pub it has been taken over by Greene King and according to the blurb will have cask ales from local suppliers.

May have a gander over the weekend.

Re: Chester Beer Awards - Hoole / City Road Echo Chamber?

Irrespective of 'recycling', opinions etc. etc. The 'Awards' at the DT was actually a bloody good do. The DT was thronging - great to see.

Re: Deva Tap

Very sad to hear from Adie that the Deva Craft Brewery, Sandycroft has been put on the market.

The local scene will be poorer for it's premature demise. All the best to all.

I'm told the Deva Tap will remain in business.

Re: Forest House (now Brewhouse and Kitchen)

Fully agree Scooper. Hugely disappointed with the place tbh both in terms of beer offering and of course the price -it's astronomical! No excuse really, no transport costs but I guess they have to pay for the kit somehow. So, when its paid for I look forward to lower prices....... Staff not happy bu...

Deva Tap

Had a good couple of sessions at the DT fez last weekend. The Pandemonium was, well, pandemonium!

Place is settling down nicely.

Re: glassware

First choice conical. Dimple ok for supping traditional bitter but too heavy for hoppy pales.
The glass should compliment the contents in my view.

Re: A stroll around Milton St, Brook St. and Russell St.

Thanks Mike, an excellent report right to the core of things as usual. Follow Hophead's endorsement of your comments. Yes, remember the Harkers when it first opened - wow! we had nothing like it......and now, well we shouldn't complain too much I guess. Certainly agree with the Kash comment, never q...

Brewhouse and Kitchen

Attended the 'soft' opening over the weekend. Fair play, they have done a decent job of the former Forest House. The ale was on fine form; the Sunset Curfew IPA notably so,albeit at £4.20 it damn well should be! Luckily it was freemans on the Saturday. The new shiny brewery is not up and running as ...

Craft Cans

I notice a recent addition to the Sixpoint 'Craft' in cans range at Spoons. Something with the rather suggestive name of 'Resin'.
I'm told it comes in at a rather pokey 9%+ .....!
Has anyone tried it?
I have had the odd tin of Bengali Tiger when at such times the horizon over the bar has looked bleak.
