e-cigs in pubs..

Many who are attempting to kick the habit- or just enjoy a puff with their pint- have taken to the e-ciggy and they're now to be seen everywhere. To fellow customers, their use is virtually undetectable as they emit no odour at all. I've used mine in a wide variety of Chester's pubs, and the odd res...

Re: Flookersbrook (Ermine)

Local rumours re the future of the site are rife, ranging from hotel to offices as part of the so-called 'business district'- to a Tescos!! Just what the Hoole shops need :/

No talk of the pub returning however.

All this may be bollox of course so watch this space, as they say..

Re: Red Lion Northgate Street

Was in tonight for the aforementioned £2 a pint evening. Brought up the rumour and was assured that, though 're-branding' may take place, the ale is safe and going nowhere :)

Re: Red Lion Northgate Street

I'd be surprised. It seems to sell well there and is decently kept.

My business is just across the road so I pop in regularly- when not in the Pied Bull next door.

Readers may be interested to know they have a Thursday special- £2 a pint all evening!

The Vanished Pubs of Chester

Hello all, It's a while since I was last on here but I thought you'd like to know that my Vanished Pubs of Chester website has had many new additions, photographs and information added in the last few months and has just branched out in the lost inns of the suburbs and villages. Come and browse for ...

Interestingly, the large car showroom next door to the lamentable Flookersbrook- Saunders Honda- has just packed it in too. Connection?

Jeez, that's a first. Sounds like a friendly sort of place.

Not in Royston Vasey is it?- "a local pub for local people"...

Re: Canal Side Tavern

The Spitting Feathers quality control seems to be variable. A place I inhabit had to send back more than one cask as undrinkable and won't deal with them now.

Mind you, John Murray's Northgate Ale is wonderful, and that's made there. Or at least used to be, haven't seen it around for some time sadly.

Re: The lost pubs of Chester...

Cheers. Appreciated.

I'm not really after 'dishing the dirt', more interesting and amusing anecdotes to help bring the memories of those old places back to life. It's far too easy for our memories to slip into oblivion.

And, as I said, anonymity guaranteed!

Re: Canal Side Tavern

Passed by there this evening, the door was open and a lad was to be seen laying floor tiles around some shiny new brewing kit.

Hahaha. Is that real? Thanks for the link. Even funnier than the Chester Beer Project.

Actually, think I'll forward the link to them.

Re: The lost pubs of Chester...

Remarkably, I've heard naff all from anyone in response to my appeal for reminisciences about Chester's vanished pubs, their licencees and clientelle.

So here's a bit of a nudge. Everyone lost their memories?
