Re: Interesting beer, football and trains trip to Birmingham

I agree with OYD that Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter is well worth checking out. CAMRA's GBBF Winter is moving to Birmingham next year and will be taking place at the New Bingley Hall from 4th - 8th February. The venue is about half a mile from Jewellery Quarter train / tram stop,

Re: Deva

I visit the Deva Tap fairly regularly and I haven't seen any Top Rope or Deva branded beers for at least six months. I'm pretty sure production of Deva Craft beers ceased fairly soon after the brewery was sold in February 2018.

Re: Farmer's Arms, Huxley

Opening tomorrow. Looks like house beers from Weetwood plus guests from Adnams and Timmy Taylors at £4+ a pint. Judging by the sample menu the food looks a tad expensive. £14 for fish & chips or £34 for fillet steak anyone? It will need to be good at those prices.

Re: Big Hand Tap

'Soft' opening tonight and tomorrow evening for invited guests. Officially open on Friday. Not radically different inside from the old Fat Cat era but they have done a really good job of smartening the place up. There are plans to install a microbrewery at some point in the future. Five Big Hand bee...

It seems our old friends at Badmiral have been bought out by the group which owns Magners cider.

Re: Wheatsheaf, No Mans Heath

Just been informed that the Wheatsheaf has been closed for the past week. I was aware that the tenants were due to leave at some point but has got any further information about what's going on there?

The beer scene in Alty has definitely improved significantly in the last couple of years. In addition to the Blackjack bar the Cheshire Tap, Craftsman and Pi are all worth a visit.

Not a great fan of fruit in beer but Titanic Plum Porter in front of a roaring fire was just the job in the Cottage last night.
